Frequently asked questions.

How long does each piece take?

I have never timed my artwork to see exactly how many hours go into a piece. My estimation is 40+ hours depending on size and medium. Paintings tend to take longer due to the ability to make large changes. With colored pencils, there is a forced stopping point when the paper will no longer hold more layers. The waxy makeup of colored pencils causes layering to stop after a certain point.

How long will it take to complete the commission?

Most of the time, commissions can be completed in two weeks. This is dependent on my work load and how many commissions I have in the queue.

What do you need from me to start the commission?

Being a photorealism artist, I require a clear picture of the subject that you would like drawn or painted. Often, clients send me multiple photos and I choose which one will work best based on composition, lighting and quality. I require a 50% non refundable deposit for the project to begin.

Do you do revisions? If so, how many?

I do not offer revisions on colored pencil because once it is on the paper, it cannot be erased. Acrylics have a bit more leeway. Depending on the requested revision, there may be an extra charge. I have never had to revise any of my work but I do want the clients to be happy and there are firsts for everything.

What is your payment structure?

I require a 50% deposit before I begin a project. This deposit is non refundable and protects me from internet scammers. The final payment is due prior to mailing it out. I am happy to send you a picture of the final work before mailing it out as proof of completion.

Can I use the artwork for commercial purposes?

This depends on the commercial use.

Can you work from a description, or do you need references?

Reference photos are a must for photorealistic portraits.
